Pulling it Together
We are in the home stretch of Light of Mine. The picture is almost locked- there’s always something that needs a slight visual adjustment or manipulation. We’ve accumulated some amazing music by some truly talented artists. We are excited to begin work with the talented Jason Edwards and John Askew for sound design and film composition. Their level of expertise and creativity is going to add a...

Shifting Gears →
We’ve been quiet as of late, buried in the process of editing footage, approaching the musical score and sound design. In spite of our detailed schedule and deadlines, Light Of Mine is being made on its own terms. Slow and steady wins the race.
On another note, we came across this article and video clip about Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours where he discusses using 2 DPs. We also used 2 DPs,...

Filming in Oregon
For those of us who live in Oregon, it’s easy to understand why productions are drawn to our state. Aside from having the ocean, mountains, desert, forest, metro and quaint small towns available for locations we have amazing talent, crew, and for the most part enthusiastic locals who are supportive. Without launching into all the details of Oregon’s film incentives (there are some great blogs...

Post Production
We’re about 2 days of shooting away from officially wrapping principal photography (save for any reshoots or additional 2nd unit stuff). Now it’s time to continue editing, which looks like it may take a few months. I’m currently putting together the rough assembly now so I can get a better idea of the flow and what, if any, pieces we’re missing. This will also give me a...

A word about the products we've been using in...
When I first started conceiving the visual design of Light of Mine, I knew I had to have a few local tools in the tool kit to bring the pictures alive. We’ve been using the Lensbaby Control Freak (single element glass) to enhance Owen’s POV as he loses his sight. I can’t tell you how awesome this product is. It’s given us the ability to do something other than just blur the...

5 more days of filming...
We arrived back home to PDX around 9 PM. Once we shuffled equipment around, took inventory of everything (as well as ourselves) we parted ways. Our Friday shoot is now bumped to Monday, our days in September are locked down- there are 2 days we still need to schedule… Basically, we still have a lot to do production wise. As it stands right now we shot approximately 25 hours of footage...
Coming Home
After 2 1/2 in the backwoods of Montana without Internet and cell service we are finally back to civilization and headed home. We’ve been so busy filming it’s been hard to blog and post photos- I’ll be getting caught up over the next week!
Yellowstone was very kind to us in terms of weather and animals- I only feared the Cabrio being gored by a bison once.
Can’t...
